Advice Major Data And Requirements For Current Students

The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism offers programs of study leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication. Communication has become a highly prized commodity in mod club, for it is through communication that our social, economic and cultural lives are shaped — globally, daily and comprehensively.

By design, the courses in the curriculum tend to cluster into different areas of report. Advice and Culture

Designed for students whose careers take an international or multicultural dimension, from those interested in foreign service, travel and consulting to those seeking careers in the arts.

Amusement, Advice and Society

This major runway is attractive to students who wish to pursue careers in the entertainment industry, also as students interested in the relationship of communication and amusement to popular civilization, globalization, cultural studies, marketing, advertising and ethics. Students choosing this option volition be well prepared for graduate study and will also exist able to enter the entertainment manufacture with grounding in the theory, roles, issues and effects of entertainment.

Organizational and Interpersonal Advice

This option is nigh relevant to students interested in careers in business, management, human being resources and development, corporate communications and consulting.


Major Requirements

Students must maintain a minimum two.0 overall GPA in their upper-division courses. No more than 16 upper sectionalization advice constituent units may exist taken prior to completion of the entire theory and Annenberg feel classes.

Students who have not been admitted to the communication major or ane of the minors may consummate a maximum of 20 advice units at USC. No farther communication courses may be taken until the student is admitted.

Access Standards and Application Requirements

Admission Standards

Admission to the advice major is competitive. When reviewing applications, the Access Committee considers factors such as academic operation and interest in the field of communication. To be eligible to use, current USC students must have:

  • Completed xvi units at USC.
  • 3.0 USC GPA recommended.

Application Requirements

The documents beneath are required. Incomplete applications will non be considered.

  • Completed Communication Major online application for electric current USC students only.
  • Statement of Intent: A statement of intent is required for students who have below a iii.0 USC GPA. This should exist a one-page essay on whatever pertinent information that may have afflicted your academic functioning. Limit 500-600 words.

Application Availability, Deadline and Notification Deadlines

Information technology is recommended that students employ to the Schoolhouse of Communication during their sophomore year.

Fall applications are made bachelor the second Fri of June.

  • Autumn applications are due by 4:thirty p.1000. on the start Friday of the autumn semester.
  • Fall applicants will exist notified on the fourth Friday of the fall semester.

Bound applications are made available on the Friday of Fall Recess (in October).

  • Spring applications are due past 4:30 p.m. on the first Friday of the spring semester.
  • Spring applicants will be notified on the 4th Friday of the spring semester.

Summer applications are made available on the Fri of Spring Suspension (in March).
